When I was seventeen, I escaped from a family member who had been trafficking me for sex since I was three.  I have spent every day since then in relentless pursuit of transcendence and life as far away as possible from the horrors of my childhood.  My efforts have taken me to five continents, earned me multiple degrees and a tenured professorship, as well as allowed me to raise an amazing daughter with a husband I adore. These days I live somewhere along the Mediterranean coast and sometimes I write about the things that happened.
